7:00 pm to 10:00 pm

Inspired by the 2018 Unison Festival theme “Be Creative!”, the Calgary team has created a Saturday-evening event called the Musi-Circus. This event will see a series of performances happen simultaneously in three different theatres on the Mount Royal University campus. Performances will begin at the top of each hour starting at 7:00 pm, with the final performances ending at 10:00 pm. Audience members can opt to stay in a single theatre all evening or go from theatre to theatre to enjoy the acts they most want to see. It’s like a festival within a festival!

Invitation to perform

You have a chance to supply the entertainment at the Musi-Circus!

  • Does your choir have a major work or performance piece that you’d love to do at Unison but didn’t have time to do in your official performance block?
  • Does your choir have a small group that might want to put on its own 45-minute show?
  • Would your choir want to split a Musi-Circus performance slot with another Unison choir or small group? Or collaborate with another choir?
  • Are you an accomplished classical soloist, jazz musician, stand-up comedian, spoken-word artist, dancer, or actor who has a 45-minute set all ready to go?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then we want to hear from you!

Please write to admin@unisonfestivalunisson.ca with “Musi-Circus Application” in the subject line. Give us your name, your contact information, and a short description (300 words maximum) of your performance proposal, along with a list of what your stage/technical requirements would be (microphones, piano, accompanist, risers, props, A/V, etc.).

The deadline for Musi-Circus applications is Friday, December 15, 2017 at 6:00 pm Mountain Time.

Festival Co-Artistic Directors Jean-Louis Bleau and Jane Perry will review all applications and contact the successful applicants no later than Monday, January 15, 2018.
